We recently worked with a husband and wife team from the UK who wanted to relocate to Mallorca, in the Magaluf area. They wanted a British Bar with all the usual trimmings, British Food, SKY TV, Football, Sunny Terrace.

They had a certain price point to achieve and wanted to be in place before the main season started.

We found a choice of three options for them and when they saw one they knew it was right. However there was already some interest in that bar.

We negotiated with the agency and were able to assist in completing a quick sale, which the other party was not able to achieve.

We also managed to get a reduction in the deposit as some of the fittings needed repairs and renewal.

The bar is now operating and doing well.

We wish you luck and good fortune for the coming years.

Business Information -- Paguera

Paguera also known s Peguera in the South West of Mallorca is certainly one of the busiest resorts and many bars and restaurants have the benefit of a longer season than normal.

There are a selection of bars for sale in this area including several British bars, as this area has a large concentration of German tourists and residents German themed bars are always popular.

Many of the British run bars are in the side streets off the main tourist street. Occasionally we come across larger businesses for sale on the main street, but these tend to sell quickly and it can be a matter of who not what you know.

Currently there are several businesses for sale on agency websites and several more for private sale. Varying from cafe type establishments to late night music bars.

Please scroll down for more detailed Resort Information.

Resort Information -- Paguera

The resort of Paguera, along with the neighbouring resorts of Palma Nova, Magaluf and Santa Ponsa, are all part of the municipal district of Calvia on the south west coast of Majorca.

Paguera is often unkindly referred to as “Little Germany” by many of the English speaking residents on the south coast. But in all fairness, the resort is very popular with the German tourist who do make up the vast majority of visitors here, many of which are attracted by the small network of coastal hiking routes towards the back of the resort.

The resort offers visitors a choice of 3 beaches, called “Playa Palmira”, “Playa Tora” and “Playa La Romana”, which are all joined by a fairly new pedestrian promenade. During the summer months all 3 beaches can become very busy, although in all fairness to the local council, they are usually kept very clean.

Behind the promenade there’s a long shopping street running the length of the resort, where most of the restaurants and bars seem to be concentrated. Despite the majority of visitors to Paguera being German, there is also a small number of British owned bars and restaurants along this street, which we’ll cover in more detail on our Restaurants and Bars pages.

Before the growth of the tourist industry on the island during the 1960′s, Paguera was originally a tiny fishing village, however, the last 40 years has seen it develop and grow, into a popular modern tourist resort with plenty of restaurants and facilities.

Whilst not quite in the same league as the neighbouring resorts of Palma Nova and Magaluf, Paguera is certainly not the resort for those seeking peace and quiet. If this is what you are looking for along the south coast, then perhaps the nearby resort Camp de Mar may be more suitable. Although in all fairness, from the end of October onwards, when most of the families leave the island, many of the hotels do close until Easter of the following year, and the few visitors that do remain see a completely different side of Paguera.

Most of the hotels in the town are found towards the back on the resort in quite a hilly area. Whilst this affords most visitors a good view back over the town, it does make Paguera particularly unsuitable for those with mobility problems, or families with young children in pushchairs.

One particular problem we did encountered in the town, was the sheer volume of traffic and the limited parking spaces available. In recent times this has been eased slightly with the construction of a bypass, which does take some through traffic away from the town, but nevertheless, there still appears to be a constant game of “musical chairs” going on, competing for the few parking spaces that are available.

All things considered Paguera gives the impression as being a busy, lively resort that always has something going on. Somewhat of a German “oasis” amongst the other Brit dominated south coast resorts.

Well what Brit does not know of Magaluf?

It’s the main British resort on the island and has been for many years.

There are many British bars and restaurants in Magaluf to choose from but the trick is to look very carefully at what you are considering buying. Some work, some don’t, some could if you changed the theme or the way they operate. Remember the best and busiest bars in Magaluf rarely come on the open market for obvious reasons. That being said, there are still many businesses that are for sale where you can make a decent living. As with all areas in Majorca, its all about buying right.

Thousands of hotel beds full every night of the summer, but the tourists have many bars and restaurants to choose from. The capital of Stag and Hen parties with a winter trade as well.

Please scroll down for more information on Magaluf.

Resort Information -- Magaluf

Magaluf is Mallorca’s original pie and a pint resort. It was the flagship resort for promoting Mallorca to the world as a destination for cheap package holidays. Today it remains one of Spain’s top mass tourism destinations and it competes with Benidorm and Ibiza as one of the best places to go in summer for nightlife. Magaluf clubs are well known by clubbers throughout Europe and some of the top DJs from the UK turn up here for short stints during the peak season. If you prefer to get to bed before sunrise Magaluf still has plenty to offer you and is very popular for family holidays and with retired people.

To the east the resort begins where Palma Nova ends at the headland of Torrenova. Every single street is packed with bars, restaurants, cafés and shops making specific recommendations very difficult considering the speed at which establishments change hands from one year to the next. In general you’ll have no problem finding plenty cheap food and drink and you might be pleasantly surprised at the good quality of meals in a lot of the restaurants.

Magaluf beach is magnificent with its glorious sand and fine, clear water. There are small kiosk bars set up along the beach during the peak summer playing great music. To the east of the beach the British pub/restaurant The Boatyard (“Geordie owned and run … we also speak English”) is a fine place for a pint and traditional British bar meals. To the west the Nawab Indian restaurant around the corner from Lineker’s has a great terrace overlooking the beach whilst Tom Brown’s and Happy House do a roaring trade in British food.

The Restaurante Las Palmeras at the end of Avinguda de Magaluf is a nice spot for Spanish meat and fish dishes. The Britannia pub just opposite is a long established favourite amongst holidaymakers. From here along Avinguda de l’Olivera there are more long term favourites for family entertainment including Jokers and Benny Hills. The BCM disco is here and just opposite is Morgans pub/restaurant and Mrs Doyles Irish pub which is the best Irish pub in town with fine live fiddle music every night.

You’ll find plenty theme parks around Magaluf to fill your time. Favourites include Marineland which is just 4km east at Portals Nous and the waterparks of Aqualand and Western Park which are just on the main road heading west out of Magaluf. For a brilliant evening of entertainment for all the family you must go to the Pirates Adventure show.

There’s plenty to keep you amused for in and around Magaluf, however, if you do decide to rent a car you’ll be richly rewarded. Just west of the resort are some fabulous beaches such as Portals Vells. Further afield you can head over to the quaint beachside hamlet of Sant Elm on the island’s south west tip overlooking the island of Dragonera for a paella lunch at one of the beachside cafés. Or drive up to Sollersouth west coast to discover the real beauty of this magnificent island.
