Emergency services came into action and a rescue operation was carried out. The Andratx police were the first to arrive. They were able go near the vessel and rescue the crew of dash-2 with the help of a Zodiac launch. Zodiac vessel police confirmed that all the 4 crew members were british and were middle-aged. The vessel had been anchored 300 meters from the shore where it suddenly lost control. Then the anchor system had snapped and the vessel drifted towards the beach and wedged on a sandy area.

No one was injured in this accident. They were taken to hotel Son Matías by the police where they spent a night. The next day, attempts to find solution to such calamities were made.

Ramon Servalls, the director of wine production explained that the collection process will shut down for about a week after the Chardonnay harvest is over, but then, it would start again with harvesting of the Merlotand other varieties of grape and would finally be finished by September.
He also said that the harvest expected this year might not be as abundant as it was last year and in fact it might be 20 to 50 % less than that of the last year. The main reason for this situation is the heavy downpour in the months of May and June. However, he said that this will not mean reduction in the quality of wine. The president stated that this new machinery is more advanced and sophisticated than the conventional cleaning machinery being used now. Also, she said that Emaya has made investment in the new equipment in order to keep Palma clean and this will lead to a litter-free city.

The course on the usage of new machinery had been instructed to the staff in Son Pax. To make it convenient for the staff members, the sessions had been organized in accordance with their regular tours of duty it was conducted on 13th, 14th of august during two sessions, each one three hours long. The operators could learn how to get efficient results out of the machines and how to use them safely, using a prototype. They were instructed by experts from the manufacturers of that machinery.

LANGUAGE
Although Spanish is widely spoken in Mallorca the national language is Mallorquin, a dialect of Catalan and is not very similar to Castellano Spanish which is the main language of Mainland Spain. However, Spanish is understood by everyone so if you have been practising your Uno, Dos, Tres and Cerveza por favor, don’t worry it will be understood.

The majority of your suppliers and, in fact, most people involved in the tourist side of business will speak English to some degree.

It really is worth learning some Spanish, its appreciated by the locals. Normally a local school will hold Spanish lessons for English speaking residents.
