It seems that the Guardia Civil’s war against drug trafficking is going to continue for a long time. This week, in Majorca, they had seized around 7 tons of hashish. They had caught hold of two ongoing major operations in two different anti-drug operations on Sunday night.
In the first operation, the target was a yacht, with a British flag, on which 3,000 kg of hashish was found. A Dominican and a Spaniard were arrested.
During the second operation, an air rescue vessel spotted a yacht off Alcudia which was then intercepted by Guardia Civil at the Alcudia port. They found 3,900 kg of hashish and arrested three people. The yacht had been waiting for another yacht from Morocco. Yesterday they reported that the weight of the seizure was just less than 4 tons. The police said that the yacht had been charted from some company that had no idea about what they were going to use the vessel for. The vessel was carrying drugs to Majorca from Morocco, but the police did not know whether they were being brought for the Majorcan market or the Balearic market.
Ramon Socias, the central government delegate, will supervise the destruction of some of these drugs today at Son Reus incinerator.
