Majorca’s association of small and medium-sized businesses, PIMECO has declared that due to the unfavorable weather during the months of March and May plus also because people don’t have enough money to spend, the Spring/Summer sales of this year have decreased notably.

PIMECO released these data yesterday in its monthly report based on the interviews of nearly 200 businessmen situated in Majorca. It seems that the results of the Spring/Summer sales of 2008 are worse than those of Autumn/Winter and also Spring/Summer sales of 2007. Also, outside the sales periods, the trading figures have fallen by 20%. The report also shows that the success during sales in 2008, if any, at the shops in central Palma. Almost all other parts of the island had had very bad sales, and in fact, at some places, the sales in July proved to be less profitable than that of the period before the bargain period. PIMECO said this shows a clear plummeting of the profits.

Although this information is gathered from the retail business sector of the economy there has been a knock on effect driven by the euro/pound exchange rate.

It makes it even more crucial to target the business for sale market properly, good businesses are still thriving. What it has done is created more bars, restaurants etc to come on the market thereby ensuring a good level of business for sale to choose from. Getting this right for you is what we are all about at Target Mallorca.
