Business Information – Campos

Campos until recently would not have been the place to buy a business unless you wanted a locals bar. However the town has changed over the last couple of years and now has its fair share of tourists visiting the market and the craft shops on the main street.

Its proximity to one of the main beaches on the island, Es Trenc has seen it get busier as people find out what it has to offer. Its also on the main route to the busy South East resort of Cala Dor.

Having said that if you are looking for a busy tourist based bar to buy then Campos is not the place just yet.

What we do find quite often are rural hotels for sale in the Campos area.

Area Information – Campos

The municipal district and small residential town of Campos, is situated almost midway between the towns of Llucmayor and Santanyí in the south east corner of the island, approximately 40km or 25 miles east of the capital Palma.

The south east corner of the island is now regarded as being the centre of the Majorcan dairy industry, and visitors to the area often comment on the large number of windmills which are again being put into use driving water supply pumps. A Majorcan specialty that is produced in the town is the “Piris” cheese, which is allowed to mature in a mixture of brine and paprika for approximately 3 months before it is ready eat.

Campos still remains primarily a residential town, and few concessions are made to the small number of tourists who do make it here. These visitors are generally independent travellers who are looking to escape the commercialism that has dominated much of the island, and who use the town as a convenient base to further explore the south east coast and in particular the unspoilt beaches of Sa Ràpita and Es Trenc.

If you’ve never visited Majorca before, the Es Trenc beach is a totally undeveloped 3km long stretch of coast, that is famed for its beautiful fine white sands, and crystal clear waters, which in recent years has become particularly popular with nudists. Behind Es Trenc a channel then leads to the Es Salobar wetlands, which is second is size only to the Parc Natural de s’Albufera on the north coast of the island between the resorts of Alcudia and Playa de Muro.
