Check-in and baggage handling staff at the Gatwick airport and the Stansted airport might be going on a 24-hour strike on Monday, a bank holiday. This staff handles many charter flights and low cost flights to the airports of Balearic. Due to this, nearly 400’000 British holidaymakers, most of them flying out to the Balearics for a holiday, are expected to face a lot inconvenience next week.

The second such strike would be demonstrated on August 29, the Friday and even that may affect a huge number of visitors to the Balearics.
Experts have advised people travelling by air on these days to be prepared for the worst that can happen. The airport officials are trying to come to a compromise with the staff to ensure, at least, the minimum services.

Industry experts claim that the delays are unavoidable as the strikes are being staged at theĀ  second and third busiest airports, Gatwick and Stansted respectively, and that too during the busiest time in the summer season.

Until now, this summer season in The Balearics has been a roller coaster ride with some areas doing well but others not so well with low trade and tourism.

Such a strike at the airports in Britain is the last thing the Balearic industry would want since a few more visitors from Britain are still expected at the end of summer. This is the time when the traders and travel companies start reducing prices
